Everett: Public hearing on Broadway urban center
The Everett City Council plans to declare are large section of the city along North Broadway an urban center in order to facilitate the development of more student housing for Everett Community College and Washington State University’s North Puget Sound campus. A public hearing on the proposal will be held Wednesday during the council’s regular meeting, after which the council will take action. The meeting begins at 12:30 p.m. in Council Chambers, located in the Historic City Hall building, 3002 Wetmore Ave.
Monroe: District to hold kindergarten info night
Monroe Public Schools is holding a kindergarten information meetings at 6:30 p.m. Monday at each elementary school in the district.
Parents with children ready to start kindergarten in September are encouraged to attend. State law requires incoming students to have a birth certificate, current immunizations and be age 5 by Aug. 31.
Kindergarten registrations will be accepted at the meetings. They will also be accepted after the meetings on school days from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. at each elementary school.
Parents are encouraged to register early because space and special programs are limited. Frank Wagner Elementary School offers extended-day kindergarten and a dual-language program. School bus service is provided to families living in the Frank Wagner transportation area. An information meeting for that program is scheduled for at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the school gym.
Maltby Elementary School hosts a Montessori program that is open for kindergarten students whose parents pay tuition. A meeting is set to provide details on that program at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the school library.

Snohomish: Search on economic development committee member
The city of Snohomish is looking for a volunteer to fill a vacancy for a two-year term on the economic development committee.
The committee meets six times a year from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the odd numbered months.
Applications for are due to City Hall, 116 Union Ave., by 4 p.m. on March 6. They are available at City Hall or on the city website.
