GRESHAM, Ore. — An off-duty Portland police sergeant has been arrested by suburban Gresham police for investigation of drunken driving, reckless driving and criminal mischief.
KATU-TV reports that police say Sgt. James McMurray, 43, is accused of crashing his car into a fire hydrant, fence and yard Thursday morning.
Damage was estimated at about $5,000. No one was hurt.
Portland police say the 18-year department veteran has been placed on paid leave pending the outcome of the investigation and an internal review.
