The privilege of serving the public for the past 21 years as chairman of the Snohomish County Target Zero DUI Task Force has afforded me the opportunity of getting to know our local officials.
One who stands out is John Lovick, our Snohomish County executive. John’s previous work in law enforcement and the Washington Legislature has saved lives. As a Washington State Patrol trooper, he removed impaired drivers from our roadways; as a legislator he helped us pass tougher DUI and other traffic safety laws. John’s commitment an dedication to promoting public safety compelled the DUI Task Force to honor him with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
As a legislator, John also sponsored legislation to strengthen our state’s auto theft laws. Snohomish County had one of the highest auto theft rates in the country. Then, as sheriff, he enforced the new theft laws, eliminated chop shops, and the stunning results are history.
John is respected for his devotion to serving the public and the fact that in both his personal and professional dealings he always exhibits the highest degree of integrity.
John’s tireless work during the Oso tragedy, his wife by his side, is a stark example of his compassion for people and his capabilities. Personally, I am impressed with his ongoing work with our youth over the years. He connects and communicates very well with them.
I ask you to join me in voting to retain John Lovick as our Snohomish County executive. You can be confident he will serve the public good.
