Game day Seahawks reading

The Seahawks have their first, albeit not quite real, home game of 2014 tonight. Until then, here's a bit of reading to help you kill the time.

First off, here’s our preview of tonight’s game in Friday’s Herald, which includes a few things Pete Carroll would like to see his team clean up after last week’s loss in Denver.

Did you happen to catch the Jaguars last night, aka, the Seahawks East? They actually looked like a decent team, and after the game, Red Bryant talked a bit about the Seahawks’ decision to let him go.

Fieldgulls.com has a good look at safety Earl Thomas and his importance to Seattle’s defense.

Seahawks.com takes a look at rookie Justin Britt and his competition with veteran Eric Winston for the starting right tackle job.

Eric Williams, who used to cover the Seahawks for the News Tribune, now covers the Chargers for ESPN, and he offers a few things to watch for tonight from a San Diego perspective.

Tim Booth of the AP has a feature on Brock Coyle, who like the rest of Seattle’s rookies will be playing at home for the first time. Coyle, who went undrafted out of Montana, has been one of the big stories of this year’s camp (if you missed it, we had this on him earlier in camp).

TheMMQB.com looks at how the Seahawks have maintained their physical style by teaching to tackle within the new rules the league adapted in 2010. The Seahawks, in fact, have a video teaching their technique that has become popular with coaches at different levels of football, which you can watch here.
