Rosen leads Emeralds over AquaSox 9-4
Eugene (12-14 second half, 27-37 overall) jumped out to a four-run lead in the first inning and never trailed. Everett starting pitcher Jeffeson Medina failed to record an out in the decisive opening inning, allowing three hits, walking one and giving up four runs, two earned, before being lifted for reliever Leoncio Munoz.
In the top of the fifth, Rosen gave Eugene a 5-0 lead with a home run to right field, his fifth of the season.
After four innings without a hit, the AquaSox (11-15, 22-42) got to Eugene starter Zechariah Lemond in the bottom of the fifth.
Phillips Castillo led off with a double and advanced to third on a single from Sheehan Planas-Arteaga. A sacrifice fly from Jordan Cowan gave Everett its first run of the game, then three straight singles by Chris Mariscal, Adam Martin and Corey Simpson scored two more runs and cut the Emeralds' lead to 6-3.
But the rally ended there, and the AqauSox never mounted another.
