The Edmonds-Woodway area led Snohomish County in final ballot returns for the Aug. 5 primary election.
Final returns showed that 34.79 percent of registered voters in Edmonds, Woodway and the nearby unincorporated areas that make up the Snohomish County part of the 7th Congressional District had returned their ballots, compared to the countywide rate of 25.81 percent. Incumbent Democratic 7th District U.S. Rep. Jim McDerrmott led his November Republican challenger, Craig Keller, 76 percent to 9 percent, but the 21st and 32nd legislative districts, both of which overlap the 7th Congressional District, each had at least one hotly contested primary.
The Snohomish County part of the 32nd District, including Wood way, south Edmonds and nearby unincorporated areas, in addition to Lynnwood and part of Mountlake Terrace, had a return rate of 25.84 percent.
The 21st Legislative District, including most of Edmonds, unincorporated areas north of Edmonds and Lynnwood and northeast of Lynnwood, all of Mukilteo and part of south Everett, had a return rate of 27.51 percent.
The Snohomish County part of the 1st Legislative District, including most of Mountlake Terrace, all of Brier and Bothell and unincorporated areas north and east of Bothell, had an early return rate of 23.47 percent.
