Not ‘post-racial' by a long shot

The Pew research center polled Americans about if they thought we were in a post-racial society; 70 percent of whites said we were.
We are 75 years past the Japanese internment camps. Sixty-five years past the communist witch hunt. Fifty years since lynchings in the South.
Time to celebrate? Not unless you're a racist or never watch, listen or read the real news.
That the Rodney King incident required federal prosecution was disturbing. Attorney General Eric Holder is needed in Missouri. Thirteen years later. A black president later.
To anyone paying attention, there is clear racism in the power structure of the prosecutor offices and the police forces in many racially tense cites.
To the 70 percent, read Tuesday's comments from Eugene Robinson: “The ones left behind.”
