HOOD RIVER, Ore. — Oregon State Police say a bicyclist died after a collision with a pickup truck near Hood River on Sunday morning.
Lieutenant Gregg Hastings says 52-year-old Ellen Dittebrandt was riding her bicycle along westbound Interstate 84 at Viento State Park interchange when a Ford pickup truck driven by a 55-year-old John C. Allman struck her from behind, ejecting the rider. Dittebrandt was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing a helmet.
Hastings says Allman is cooperating with the investigation.
Authorities say Dittenbrandt was a Mosier firefighter and first-responder and a local artist. She was selected in 2010 as Mosier’s firefighter of the year.
