EVERETT — Three nominees for former Republican state Rep. Mike Hope’s seat are scheduled for interviews Sept. 15 with the Snohomish County Council.
GOP precinct officers earlier this month made nominations the 44th District House seat. The County Council, where Democrats hold a 4-1 majority, gets to appoint one of them to serve until after the results of the Nov. 4 election are certified.
The Republican Party’s choices, in order of preference, are: Mill Creek City Councilman Mark Harmsworth, Lake Stevens Councilman Sam Low and Doug Roulstone, a retired Navy captain and former congressional candidate.
Interviews are scheduled from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in council chambers on the eighth floor of the county’s Bob Drewel Building, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.
Harmsworth, a Mill Creek councilman, is the only one of the three running in this year’s election for the seat. His opponent is Mike Wilson, a Democrat and long-time Cascade High School teacher.
