BOISE — A three-run ninth inning turned a one-run Everett deficit into a two-run lead and the AquaSox held on for a 4-2 victory over the Boise Hawks in Tuesday's Northwest League game.
Trailing 2-1, Everett loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the ninth after three straight singles by Chris Mariscal, Adam Martin and Corey Simpson, knocking Boise reliever Sam Wilson out of the game. Daniel Lewis replaced Wilson and after striking out Kyle Petty, he walked Sheehan Planas-Arteaga to force in a run and tie the game at 2-2.
Andy Peterson followed with a bunt single that scored Martin and gave the AquaSox their first lead in 26 innings. Phillips Castillo gave Everett an insurance run with a sacrifice fly that scored Simpson.
Trey Cochran-Gill pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his third save of the season.
After being shutout for 22 straight innings, the AquaSox tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fifth. Petty lead off with a double and after two straight strikeouts, scored on a single by Castillo.
