Seems Like Yesterday

50 years ago (1964)

An open house honoring the 80th birthday of Tom Bowen, pioneer resident of the area, would be held at his home, Route 4, Everett. Bowen came here from Iowa when he was 16 and had lived in the Marshland and Snohomish area since. He retired eight years ago, after 35 years as a cattle buyer.

Tomorrow began the three-day grand opening of Wayne’s Village Inn in Snohomish. The new restaurant offered a split level dining area, open hearth cooking, a coffee room and The VIP Room for cocktails. Wayne Cross was the owner-manager and Ken Bridges was the chef.

25 years ago (1989)

Providence Hospital and Parkside Medical Services Corporation had opened an outpatient clinic for alcohol treatment and other chemical dependencies at the corner of Wall Street and Grand Avenue. Dr. Thomas Robbie was the medical director of the programs.

Norma J. Silbaugh of Marysville was authorized by the International Board of Standards and Practices of Certified Financial Planners, Inc. to use the certification marks CFP and Certified Financial Planner in accordance with the board’s guidelines. She worked at First Interstate Bank.
