Seems Like Yesterday

50 years ago (1964)

The fascinating watercolors by Arne Jensen in the first shows of the new Gourmet Art Gallery in the Monte Cristo Hotel were inspected by Hotel Manager Ray Kegwein and Vice President John Bryant. Shows ran three weeks in the dining room gallery, just off the newly decorated coffee shop of the hotel.

R.I. Studebaker was among about 20 management representatives invited by the federal government to attend a Seattle conference with R.T. Herrick, general counsel for the federal Mediation and Conciliation Service out of Washington D.C.



25 years ago (1989)

Local men in the Armed Forces in the news included Michael Skinner, 1981 graduate of Cascade High School who was promoted to Air Force staff sergeant, and Douglas Kirby, 1979 Snohomish High School grad who was decorated with the Army Achievement Medal while serving in West Germany.

Residents of Marysville’s Oakwood neighborhood, concerned with safety, asked the city to install additional stop signs in the area. Concerns revolved around a new elementary school opening next week. Glenn Memmer told the city council said the area was already unsafe because of high-speed traffic passing through.
