Poor Walk: Friends of the Poor Walk is a national event to make the community aware of the services St. Vincent de Paul provides. A Friends of the Poor Walk will start at 9 a.m. Sept. 6 from Immaculate Conception Church, 1200 E. Fifth St., Arlington. The route follows Fifth to Olympic to Legion Park and back. Food drive: Faith Lutheran Church, at 1424 172nd St. NE in Marysville, holds a Community Food Drive, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 6 and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 7. Drive by and drop off your non-perishable food items to volunteers stationed in the church parking lot. Get a free cup of coffee, too. Monetary donations also welcome until Nov. 15 to purchase holiday food baskets for needy families in the north Lakewood community; donations matched by Thrivent Financial. School blessing: A Back-to-School Blessing will be held during both services, 9 a.m. (traditional) and 10:45 a.m. (contemporary) Sept. 7 at Stanwood United Methodist Church, 27128 102nd Drive NW. Students, teachers and school staff will be honored with a blessing as the academic year prepares to start. Gift bags will be distributed and refreshments served during the fellowship time. Divorce care class: A divorce care support group will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 4 to Nov. 13, in room 205 at Bethany Christian Assembly, 2715 Everett Ave. The class is an ongoing ministry aimed at those who are separated, presently going through a divorce, or have been divorced for an extended period of time and find themselves struggling when trying to put their life back together.
