Texas A&M University is very serious when it comes to protecting its trademark of the 12th Man.
Just ask Bothell’s Foggy Noggin Brewing.
After brewing up a batch of IPA with Skittles — yes, you heard that correctly — in honor of the Seahawks candy craving running back Marshawn Lynch last season, Foggy Noggin was hit with a cease-and-desist letter after it named the beer 12th Man Skittles IPA.
Those Aggies don’t mess around.
Instead of scuttling the beer, though, Foggy Noggin just renamed it, going with the tongue-in-cheek Cease &Desist IPA. The beer and all of its candy goodness is back for the start of the NFL season, and each week Foggy Noggin will hold a lottery to decide which of its tap accounts will pour the beer. This week it’s the three sister pubs in Seattle: Fiddlers Inn, Latona Pub and Hopvine. Cease &Desist IPA is also available at Foggy Noggin’s taproom at 22329 53rd Ave SE, Bothell.
Hopefully it’s as good as Skittlebrau!
Here’s a press release from Foggy Noggin:
Foggy Noggin Brewing — 12th Man Skittles IPA/Cease &Desist IPA (Important Update)
Cease &Desist IPA (formerly known as 12th Man Skittles IPA) was so popular last year we will be brewing this all season long. Each game, we will have a limited number of 1/6BBL kegs on tap.
We are releasing this beer into the market at three locations (HopVine Pub, Latona Pub and Fiddler’s Inn) this Thursday (Sept. 4, 2014) in time for kick-off of the Seahawks season opener. We will be getting a limited amount to our tap accounts each week for gameday. We ask you to wait to tap this keg at kick-off each week.
The Foggy Noggin tap accounts will be in a weekly lottery for a keg of this beer.
Next game we will be selecting is Sunday (Sept. 14) when the Seahawks travel to San Diego and play the Chargers at 1:05 p.m. — we will announce weekly where this beer will be on tap for the Seahawks game.
