What: Rose “Dick Clark”
Named for the American icon, this a magnificent Grandiflora of many colors. Every flower is unique as the dark red buds open to swirls of cherry pink and cream, changing to hues of light pink and burgundy as it spends time in the sun. Part of its appeal is the fact that it is a long-stemmed rose that holds up well in bouquets. It is extremely disease resistant and has a mild cinnamon fragrance. All of these fine qualities are the reasons that this rose was entered into a very elite group of roses in 2011 the AARS Award, an All American Rose Selection winner, honoring the best of the best.
Sun or shade: Full sun, at least six hours a day, is needed for full coloration and bloom quality.
Size: Expect this rose to get to at least 5 feet in height.
See it: At the WSU Snohomish County Master Gardener Demonstration Garden at Jennings Memorial Park, in the Rose Garden, 6915 Armar Road, Marysville.
