GOLD BAR — A bomb squad collected an apparent explosive device found outside Gold Bar Elementary on Wednesday afternoon.
A man called 911 about 3:30 p.m. after spotting what looked like a pipe bomb in the grass near the school.
“He then reportedly moved the object to his vehicle to protect the children in the area,” Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
The bomb squad collected the device and took it apart for evidence, Ireton said. The item was determined to be a realistic-looking fake.
No one was hurt.
