EvCC to receive $1.4 million

Washington state community colleges, including Everett Community College, will share nearly $12.5 million in the latest round of the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training initiative. These investments will help expand the capacity of Washington state community colleges to provide innovative training programs in partnership with local employers. Everett Community College’s share is $1,415,776.

Ford dealer to raise money for Glacier Peak High School

Bickford Ford and Glacier Peak High School are partnering to help raise up to $6,000 in support of the high school football team as part of Ford’s Drive 4 UR School program. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Glacier Peak High School, test drive a vehicle and Bickford Ford will donate $20 to the school.

Nominations sought for Small Business Person of the Year

The U.S. Small Business Administration is ready to accept nominations for its 2015 National Small Business Week Awards, including the annual Small Business Person of the Year award. The web portal http://awards.sba.gov provides all the guidelines and has made it easier to submit and track submissions of nominees for National Small Business Week. Nominations are due by Jan. 5, 2015.

Grant helps state with impact of downsized military

Washington state has received a $4.3 million federal grant to prepare the state for the impacts of military downsizing. The funding is matched by more than $500,000 in state and local dollars through the newly formed Washington Military Alliance. The alliance was convened by the governor to prepare for the downsizing that will be felt locally.

Opening planned for Lake Stevens pot store

New pot store Cannablyss is opening in Lake Stevens. The store plans to hold its grand opening Oct. 10 at 2705 Hartford Drive, Suite A, Lake Stevens. Hours of operation will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Sunday.

Domino’s Pizza hiring 500 in Western Washington

Domino’s Pizza is looking to hire 500 employees across more than 80 stores in the Western Washington region. Jobs range from delivery drivers to assistant managers to general managers. The business will interview and hire employees at several locations including one from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at 7601 Evergree Way, Everett.
