Running company purchases half marathon
Locally owned Snohomish Running Company announced that it is purchasing the Heroes Half, effective Oct. 10. The Heroes Half offers a half-marathon, 10k, 5k and kid’s fun run and features discounts for members of the nation’s armed forces. Founded in 2012 by Porter Bratten and Grant Harrington, Snohomish Running Company also owns and operates the Snohomish River Run and Snohomish Women’s Run.
Tour EdCC Veterans Resource Center
On Oct. 20, visit with Edmonds Community College president Jean Hernandez and tour the college’s Veterans Resource Center. From 2 to 3:30 p.m., cookies and coffee will be served and from 5 to 7 p.m. wine and cheese will be offered. The Veterans Resource Center is in Lynnwood Hall on the second floor at 20000 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood.
Future of Flight’s foundation to host gala, auction
The Future of Flight Foundation will hold its annual Gala &Auction, “I Believe I Can Fly,” starting at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Future of Flight Aviation Center, 8415 Paine Field Blvd., Mukilteo. Everett Clinic Foundation gives grant to Bethany
Bethany of the Northwest, with three care homes in Everett, is the recipient of a grant of $6,868 from the Everett Clinic Foundation. These funds will be used to purchase a much-needed new recumbent cross trainer, new reclining shower chairs, and a new emergency crash cart. The nursing staff will also be ordering new blood pressure cuffs and stethoscopes to replace old equipment.
Barista training class planned in Marysville
Marysville Parks and Recreation is offering a barista training class to teach the basic fundamentals of working in the coffee industry. Cost is $90 plus a $20 material fee.
