New hire at AmericanWest Bank in Everett

Marcia Marks has joined the AmericanWest Bank as a residential lender serving Snohomish and Island County. Marks is a seasoned lender with more than 10 years of residential lending experience. Prior to joining AmericanWest Bank, she was the sole owner of a mortgage brokerage company. Marks’ office is located at 2722 Colby Ave., Suite 100, Everett.

The third Annual Economic Alliance Snohomish County Public Officials Reception is 4 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Holiday Inn, 3105 Pine St., in downtown Everett. It is a chance to chat with elected officials about business issues and connect with fellow business leaders on the state of affairs in the region, the state and Washington, D.C.

Swedish Edmonds CEO to speak at Edmonds chamber

David Jaffe, chief executive of Swedish Edmonds, is the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce luncheon guest speaker for Tuesday. The Edmonds Chamber luncheon is 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Edmonds Yacht Club, 326 Admiral Way, Edmonds. The ticketed event is open to the public. Advanced registration is required. Port of Everett sells Bayview Building

The Port of Everett Commission has authorized the executive director to enter into a purchase and sale agreement for the Port’s Bayview Building located at 2911 Bond St. in Everett. The building is slated to be sold to Brian Evans and Robert Bauer for $1.675 million. It includes the nearly 14,000-square-foot office building and adjacent parking lot.

Film about urban farming to be aired at EdCC

Edmonds Community College is showing “Growing Cities,” a film about urban farming at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Black Box Theatre on campus — 20000 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood. The film screening is free and open to the public. For more information about the film, visit www.growingcitiesmovie.com.

EvCC hosts panels on modern slavery

Learn about the challenges and impacts of modern-day slavery in Washington state at panel discussions this week at Everett Community College. The first panel is 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at EvCC’s Henry M. Jackson Conference Center, room 101. The second panel is 11 a.m. to noon Thursday in EvCC’s Baker Hall, room 120.

Seminars aimed to help job seekers

Village Community Services is offering WorkStrides seminars, a three-day transformational seminar for job seekers. The next seminar is Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Royal Pacific Building in Smokey Point. Sessions run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Participants must commit to attending all three days.
