TACOMA — Prosecutors in Pierce County say they will take more time to continue their investigation before making a charging decision in the case of a Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldier accused of fatally shooting his wife in their Lakewood, Washington, apartment.
The News Tribune reported that prosecutors said Monday that the decision has been delayed until Wednesday. Skylar Nemetz continues to be held without bail. His lawyer, Michael Stewart, did not object to the delay.
The 20-year-old Nemetz was arrested last Thursday for investigation of manslaughter in the death of his wife, 19-year-old Tarrah Nemetz.
Police in the Tacoma suburb say she died after being shot in the back of the head while sitting at a computer. Prosecutors say the weapon that killed her was an AR-15 rifle.
Skylar Nemetz reportedly has given detectives varying accounts of the shooting.
