EVERETT — Police found nothing to worry about Thursday night after somebody reported seeing a man with a firearm at the Boeing plant in Everett.
The first call came in about 7 p.m. about a man possibly carrying a rifle outside a building at the plant, Everett police spokesman Aaron Snell said. A second call came in not long after, reporting a similar sighting.
The response was massive, with police being summoned from surrounding departments. Some workers were led from their buildings and at 8:25 p.m., more than an hour after the first 911 call, it started to become clear that no gunman was at the plant.
“We are actively working to ensure security of all employees as police investigate unsubstantiated threat at Everett factory,” the Boeing Co. said on Twitter just before 8:30 p.m.
Snell said multiple buildings were searched before 9 p.m. Police interviewed the employees who called 911.
At about 9:45 Snell tweeted on the police department’s Twitter account: “Search over at Boeing — nothing suspicious found. Employees back at work!”
