OSO — A fallen tree severely injured and trapped a semi-truck driver inside his cab on Highway 530 Thursday, the Washington State Patrol reported.
The incident happened around 3:30 p.m., just west of where a deadly landslide struck earlier this year, trooper Mark Francis said. The driver was freed and flown by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with critical injuries.
The tree fell during high winds.
The National Weather Service placed the region under a wind advisory through 6 p.m. Thursday. South to southwest winds were predicted to reach up to 35 mph, with gusts of up to 45 mph, before tapering off in the early evening.
