Snow is falling, and now is a great time to start thinking about winter fun. The Everett branch of the Mountaineers offers a cross country ski course beginning in January.
The class, which consists of two lectures and three field trips, teaches the basics of cross country skiing. Students also learn about appropriate clothing and equipment and how to stay safe while skiing. Field trips offer chances to learn to ski on both groomed and ungroomed snow.
Lectures are Jan. 8 and Jan. 22 in Everett. Al-day field trips are Jan. 17, Jan. 24 and Feb. 7. Cost is $95 for Moutaineers members and $125 for nonmembers.

The Everett Mountaineers also offer a basic snowshoe course. Get a solid base in snowshoeing skills. Learn about equipment, condition, route selection, safe travel and more. There are two lectures, Jan. 7 and Jan. 21, in Everett. There is also one field trip, on Jan. 24. Cost is $60 for members and $80 for nonmembers.
