Seven new care providers hired by Western Washington Medical
Western Washington Medical Group announced the addition of seven new providers: Dr. Justin R. Cuschieri in Gastroenterology; Dr. Jason A. Talavera, advanced registered nurse practitioners Susan Dana and Jillian Hamel in Cardiology; advanced registered nurse practitioner Rebecca Epperson in the allergy clinic; Kathryn Sawyer, Ph.D, in Psychology; and Dr. Adriana Rosales will join Everett Family Medicine in January.
Mukilteo’s Work Force Development Center gets state award
The Work Force Development Center in Mukilteo has been awarded START status from the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. START, or Safety Through Achieving Recognition Together, is a program that recognizes occupational safety and health excellence to lead to a safer workplace, lower costs, improved morale, and community recognition.
Community Transit gives vans to organizations
Community Transit’s Van GO recipients have been named. The Snohomish County non-profits include Cascade Seniors and Darrington Bluegrass Association, Compass Health, Cypress House, Housing Hope, Northwest’s Child, Smithwright Services, Stanwood Community and Senior Center, Take the Next Step, Volunteers of America Western Washington and Wonderland Development Center. This year’s winners will each receive a 12-passenger van from the program.

Revenue reports growth in retail sales
According to the Washington State Department of Revenue’s quarterly report of taxable retail sales, the state’s taxable retail sales reached nearly $31 billion in the second quarter of 2014 (April 1 to June 30), recording a 6.8 percent increase over the same period in 2013. Retail trade, a subset of total taxable retail sales, rose 5.4 percent to $13.9 billion.
