SEATTLE — One Seattle neighborhood is so frustrated at the lack of help from police that they’re hiring off-duty officers to fight crime.
Residents of the Whittier Heights neighborhood tell KING News police have been slow to respond to break-ins and car prowls.
They organized the Whittier Heights Patrol Association. Starting next month residents will subscribe by paying about $250 a year to a security company that dispatches off-duty Seattle police officers. The off-duty officers wear their uniforms.
