Air China commits to 60 Boeing 737s

SEATTLE — Air China has committed to buying 60 737s, the Boeing Co. announced Monday.

The deal is for both 737 Next-Generation and 737 MAX airplanes, according to Boeing’s news release.

At current list price, the deal is worth more than $6 billion.

But airplane makers typically offer steep discounts, especially for single-aisle airplanes. Boeing and its rival, Airbus Group NV, have been fighting fiercely over the single-aisle market, where demand for new airplanes is greatest.

Boeing assembles its 737s in Renton. Overhead stow bins and other 737 components are produced in at Boeing’s Everett plant.
