Seahawks-Rams inactives (Unger is out again), pregame notes and links

The Seahawks will be without center Max Unger for a sixth straight game as he recovers from high-ankle sprain. Unger had practiced some during the week and was listed as questionable, but the Seahawks will rest him again, likely hoping they can win and get the bye, giving him another two weeks to return to full strength.

Based on what we’re seeing in pregame warmups, Patrick Lewis will start again at center over Lemuel Jeanpierre. That is unless Tarvaris Jackson, who was taking snaps from Jeanpierre, is starting over Russell Wilson (I kid, I kid).

As expected, the Seahawks are without starting receiver Jermaine Kearse, while CB Tharold Simon and TE Cooper Helfet, who were questionable, are also both out.

One funny thing on display during pregame warmups, Rams punter and former Bothell QB Johnn Hekker, who has been known to beat the Seahawks with trick plays in the past, was throwing passes in addition to warming up his leg.

Seahawks inactives: WR Jermaine Kearse, CB Tharold Simon, C Max Unger, G Keavon Milton, TE Cooper Helfet, DE Demarcus Dobbs.

Rams inactives: CB E.J. Gaines, TE Justice Cunningham, G/C Barrett Jones, T Brandon Washington, TE Alex Bayer, DT Alex Carrington, DL Ethan Westbrooks.

And finally, if you want some pregame reading to keep you busy, here’s my column from today’s Herald on the Seahawks defense and its place in history.

Also, the NFL Network is reporting that Trent Kirchner, Seattle’s director of pro personnel, is a candidate for the Jets general manager job. The Jets current GM John Idzik, another former member of the Seahawks front office, will reportedly be fired soon.
