Brides and grooms, it’s show time!
That also goes for brides and brides.
And grooms and grooms.
Options abound for all couples planning to tie the knot.
The 2015 wedding season starts this weekend with the Seattle Wedding Show. Then comes Northwest Bridal Showcase, Jan. 17 and 18, at Tulalip. The Everett-Lynnwood Wedding Expo is Jan. 24 and 25. Weddings in Woodinville, a wine tour of decorated venues, is Jan. 25.
One Love Wedding Showcase is Feb. 22 in Seattle. It was launched by Lynnwood wedding planner Jenny Harding in 2012 to cater to same-sex couples.
“All the vendors are hand-selected by me,” she said. “This is a place where people can come and have a cocktail and connect with professionals.”
Harding said it includes “life-merging” vendors, such as legal, financial, banking, insurance, real estate and other services that couples need when merging their lives together.
It’s open to all couples, same-sex and otherwise. “Marriage is marriage,” Harding said. “All couples should be able to come and feel equally celebrated.”
For something off the bridal train path, the Lovesick Expo comes to Seattle on Feb. 8.
Watch a burlesque show. Listen to swing music. Swig cocktails. Learn about pole dancing.
“It’s not your typical wedding show,” co-founder Tom Wright said.
He wanted to connect unique wedding vendors with people who would never attend “your typical bridal show.” The alt-wedding show, which travels to major cities nationwide, also has the typical elements: Photographers. Florists. Planners. Jewelers.
Wright said 85 percent of people attending are couples.
“Straight couples, gay couples, nerdy couples, traditional couples. Couples looking for something different to make their day stand out,” he said.
