VANCOUVER, Wash. — A new trial has been scheduled for Feb. 9 in Vancouver for ex-Beaverton, Oregon, police Officer Christopher Warren whose child rape conviction was thrown out because of a mistrial.
The Columbian reported that a Clark County Superior Court judge also doubled his bail Wednesday to $500,000. He remains in jail.
A jury convicted Warren in October of raping a 5-year-old girl with a pencil. His lawyer says he was falsely accused.
The mistrial was declared in December after a juror admitted reading a newspaper article about the case in violation of jury instructions.
