MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — A former Mountlake Terrace police commander has lost his appeal for his job back after nearly a year of legal wrangling.
The Mountlake Terrace Civil Service Commission recently upheld the firing of Don Duncan, 50, according to a city press release.
Duncan was arrested in January 2014 and charged with drunken driving. Late last year, the case ended when the charge was amended to second-degree negligent-driving. Judge Steven Clough ruled Duncan had committed the offense. The judge ordered him to pay a $550 fine.
Duncan was fired in spring 2014 after an internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding his arrest. The city determined that Duncan had violated police department policies.
Duncan worked for the city for nearly 18 years.
