ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Searchers are looking for a small plane reported overdue on a Cook Inlet flight.
KTUU reports a red and white Cessna 180 left Soldotna for Chakachamna Lake north of Cook Inlet with one person aboard Wednesday afternoon. The plane did not return later that afternoon as expected.
Alaska National Guard spokeswoman Kalei Rupp says the search is being coordinated by the Rescue Coordination Center. Rupp says civil air patrol aircraft are searching ground areas.
The Coast Guard also is involved in the search, focusing on coastal waters.
The search began Wednesday evening and resumed Thursday.
