Avianca chooses Airbus over Boeing for $10.6B order

EVERETT — Boeing lost out on a big single-aisle airplane order for Avianca Holdings, a Colombian airline group, flag carrier for Colombia.

The airline instead signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus Group NV for 100 A320neo-family airplanes.

Based on the middle of the family’s three models, the deal is worth $10.6 billion at current list prices. However, actual sales prices are typically negotiated down.
