Trinity students volunteer 2,100 hours for nonprofits
Trinity Lutheran College had 60 students participate in the Service Learning Practicum program in which they contributed a combined 2,100 hours to Everett area non-profit organizations during the fall semester. Each participating student served three to five hours per week during the term with one of 15 organizations that had been pre-approved by the college.
Walmart gives $785,000 to Washington charities last year
The Walmart Foundation announced that over the last fiscal year, they provided $785,000 in direct contributions to charitable organizations throughout Washington through their State Giving Council. The donations supported a broad range of organizations in communities across the state including the Community Food Bank in Marysville and Puget Sound Blood Center in Lynnwood.
EPA to help Marysville with smart growth
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced that 22 communities across the nation, including Marysville will receive technical assistance to pursue development strategies that support smart growth and sustainability goals and encourage local economic development. EPA staff and national experts will conduct one to two-day workshops in those communities as part of the Building Blocks for Sustainable Communities program.
Revenue hosts workshop in Lynnwood for businesses
The Washington State Department of Revenue (Revenue) is hosting a free workshop for new and small business owners in Lynnwood on Feb. 10. The workshop teaches about excise taxes, sales tax collection and other record keeping requirements. It’s planned from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 10 at Alderwood Community Service Office (DSHS facility), 20311 52nd Ave. W., Lynnwood.
