EVERETT — A mudslide has temporarily canceled passenger train service between Everett and Seattle.
BNSF Railway spokesman Gus Melonas says a mudslide at about 3 p.m. Tuesday covered the main line with 20 feet of mud, trees and debris.
Crews are working to clear the tracks and a nearby ditch. BNSF geotechnical experts also are checking the slopes for stability.
Melonas says a 48-hour moratorium on passenger trains means service won’t resume until Thursday afternoon.
