SPRAGUE — The Lincoln County sheriff says a man is dead and a woman has been taken to a hospital after a boating accident on Sprague Lake about 35 miles west of Spokane.
Sheriff Wade Magers said the two were in a boat that apparently capsized about 3 p.m. Tuesday. Witnesses reported that both people began swimming to shore.
The Spokesman-Review reported that Magers said the man and woman had washed ashore by the time rescuers arrived. The woman was alive but the man was dead. Neither was immediately identified and the woman’s condition was not available.
Weather on the lake included whitecaps and 20 mph winds.
Magers said according to initial reports, a hang glider spotted the boaters in trouble and contacted a resident, who dialed 911.
