EVERETT — Snohomish County government fired a public works administrator earlier this month who had been on paid leave since the discovery months earlier of two felony theft convictions on her record.
Pam Miller was granted a formal name-clearing hearing, which is standard procedure for employees, giving them a chance to make a case against termination, county spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said. Miller was let go Feb. 2. She had worked in the county for 30 years.
Miller was working as a public works administrative operations manager last fall when supervisors learned she had pleaded guilty to the theft charges more than a year earlier. The charges involved money taken from the Washington State Racing Pigeon Organization while Miller was the group’s treasurer.
Miller maintained she had informed her boss of the case before pleading guilty. She said the crimes had no impact on her ability to perform her job, which included payroll, grants oversights and internal investigations.
