EDMONDS — The men in tights are coming to Edmonds.
The all-male comedy dance troupe Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo takes to the stage at Edmonds Center for the Arts for one night only Feb. 19, proving that men can dance en pointe without falling on their faces.
The theatrical group, all talented dancers, was founded in 1974 by a group of ballet enthusiasts bent on offering a playful, entertaining view of traditional classical ballet in parody form.
Les Ballets Trockadero De Monte Carlo first performed in the late-late shows in Off-Off Broadway lofts, with a repertoire of ballet and modern dance, including original works.
Affectionately known as the “Trocks,” the troupe garnered critical success in New York City and then went on to earn rave reviews abroad and across the country. The Trocks have danced in more than 30 countries and 500 cities around the world.
In Edmonds, the Trocks will perform “Le Lac Des Cygnes (Swan Lake Act II),” “Esmerelda” and “Paquita.”
A writer for the Sydney Star Observer said, “The Trocks are a guaranteed hoot for people who know nothing of ballet and an absolute must for those who think they know the originals.”
