EdCC trustee reappointed to post
Quentin Powers was reappointed to the Edmonds Community College Board of Trustees on Feb. 6. Gov. Jay Inslee reappointed Powers — currently the vice chair of the college’s Board of Trustees — to serve a five-year term through September 2019. Powers was initially appointed to the Board of Trustees in October 2006 by Gov. Christine Gregoire.
New post-secondary school receives state license
The Reed Advantage announced that it is now licensed as a post-secondary school within Washington state. The Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board, under the state’s private vocational schools rules and regulations, granted the licensure effective Feb. 1. The Reed Advantage in Burlington provides training in numerous computer software programs and related business courses.
Island County commissioner joins WSU advisory board
Island County Commissioner Helen Price Johnson announced that she will serve on the advisory board of Washington State University North Puget Sound at Everett in order to work with other local leaders in supporting the expansion of higher education opportunities in north Puget Sound. WSU North Puget Sound at Everett offers four WSU degree programs to students.
Nominations sought for SBA awards
The U.S. Small Business Administration is seeking nominations for its annual Tibbetts and Small Business Innovation Research Hall of Fame Awards.
