CAMANO ISLAND — It’s a small show, but the Port Susan Home and Garden event is especially designed for the locals.
The free show, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Camano Center, 606 Arrowhead Road, on the island, is hosted by the Camano Chamber of Commerce.
The idea is that the Port Susan show will inspire and provide information about home and garden ideas for an island environment.
Along with displays by vendors and local service business owners, the show has four speakers scheduled
10:30 a.m.: Tamara Drake speaks about recycling stuff that generally isn’t easy to recycle. More information is available at www.RecycleForaGood Cause.wordpress.com.
11:30 a.m.: Don Evans, executive administrator of Washington 811, has a topic of “Call Before You Dig” and will talk about making sure people don’t dig in the wrong spots, causing themselves injury or disrupting utilities.
12:30 p.m.: Tyler Heagle, a native of Camano Island and certified home energy auditor for Washington Energy Services, plans to talk about home energy audits and how science can help people lower their energy costs.
2 p.m.: The funny Ciscoe Morris plans to hand out garden advice and offer ideas for must-have spring plants. Morris has a weekly radio show, “Gardening with Ciscoe,” on 97.3 FM Kiro radio. He also appears on King-TV with Meeghan Black.
