OLYMPIA — Agents from the U.S. Treasury Department searched the home of Washington state Auditor Troy Kelley earlier this week while he and his family were out of town on vacation.
Tacoma police spokeswoman Loretta Cool told The Associated Press that agents were at a Tacoma address for about five hours Monday. The address she said was searched was listed on state financial disclosure forms as belonging to Kelley. Kelley’s spokesman also said Wednesday night the address was Kelley’s home.
Cool said she had no information about the nature of the search. The spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s office in Seattle, Emily Langlie, said she could neither confirm nor deny any investigation of Kelley.
Kelley said in a statement that he and his family have been on vacation since Friday night and were not home Monday. He said he had not been served a search warrant nor informed of any reasons for a search.
