MARYSVILLE — The Washington State Patrol is looking for a black man with short hair who got away after a high-speed chase that ended here early Saturday morning.
Troopers spotted the man at about 12:50 a.m. He was driving a Toyota Highlander northbound on I-5 near Marine View Drive in Everett.
When troopers tried to stop the SUV, the driver took off and troopers pursued. The 7-minute chase reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour, said Trooper Mark Francis.
The SUV took the 4th Street exit in Marysville. The man tried to get away from troopers by driving on the railroad tracks near 4th Street and Cedar Avenue. The SUV got stuck on the tracks.
The driver jumped out and ran. Marysville Police searched for him for about an hour along the railroad tracks but officers were unable to find him, Francis said.
The state patrol asked Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway to stop trains until the SUV was cleared from the tracks at about 2:30 a.m. Methamphetamine was found in the vehicle, Francis said.
A woman who was with the man in the SUV was arrested and booked on multiple charges.
Francis said the state patrol has identified the man and plans to put out warrants for his arrest. He is expected to face multiple charges.
