Boeing says no talks about new research center in Atlanta

The Boeing Co. is not known for making unequivocal public statements. But one thing it is clear about is that it is not talking to Georgia Tech about establishing a new research center in Atlanta.

On Tuesday, an Atlanta Journal-Constitution article cited two unidentified sources who said that the company and the school are in talks about a new center.

Not so, says Boeing. Here is the company’s full statement:

“We are pleased with our relationship with Georgia Tech and are continuing to talk with them about ongoing and future research projects, but we do not have anything of substance to announce at this time.

“Additionally, our continuing discussions about ongoing and future research projects would not include a research center with hundreds of jobs requiring the movement of work. Any research agreement with Georgia Tech would be similar to what we’ve done with other schools.”
