STANWOOD — The first Port Susan Spring Fest is coming to town this month.
On the heels of two popular February festivals, Spring Fest is a collection of games, competitions and lessons for all ages.
“We had heard from the community that they wanted more family activities throughout the year,” city administrator Deborah Knight said.
Events are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 11 at Viking Village on the corner of Highway 532 and 88th Avenue NE.
People can hone their boat-building skills at a Center for Wooden Boats booth, and the Stanwood-Camano YMCA is putting on a kids race. Visitors can test their throwing arm at a speed pitch machine or explore heavy equipment like cranes and bulldozers at a Touch-a-Truck exhibit.
The Touch-a-Truck, Center for Wooden Boats and YMCA activities are new to local festivals, Knight said.
“We’re trying to create relationships with new partners and bring some of those educational groups to Stanwood,” she said.
A pancake breakfast is scheduled from 6:30 to 11 a.m. at Fire Station 99, on the corner of Highway 532 and Pioneer Highway. Officials are hoping to draw 500 people throughout the day, Knight said.
