EVERETT — Archbishop Murphy fended off a late-inning rally by visiting South Whidbey to improve to 6-0 in conference play and 8-1 overall.
Archbishop Murphy pitcher Houston Schmutz improved to 3-0 on the season, and reliever Parker Sand picked up his second save.
Eight players collected at least one RBI for the Wildcats, with Joseph Damito, Ernie Gamboa and Sand leading the way with two apiece. South Whidbey’s Connor Antich went 2-for-3 with five RBI. South Whidbey (1-5 conference, 2-6 overall) fell behind 11-1 through four innings before scoring nine runs in the final three innings, including four in the seventh.
