EVERETT — The Everett Recovery Cafe, a new facility helping people who have struggled with addiction, will host an open house 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
A nonprofit organization, the Everett Recovery Cafe opened its doors March 20 in a renovated house at 2212 Broadway. It provides lunches, sobriety meetings and other support to people older than 18. A haven from the streets, it’s also a cozy place for board games, conversation and new friendships.
The cafe is affiliated with, but financially independent of, Seattle’s Recovery Cafe, which serves about 150 people each day. There is no cost to be an Everett Recovery Cafe member, but participants are required to do chores and attend weekly meetings.
With the open house, the organization invites people who helped get the cafe started and the community to see its facility and meet the staff. Coffee, tea and light snacks will be served, and parking is available at the Walgreens across the street.
