SEATTLE — The National Weather Service in Seattle says a strong cold front is expected to bring a considerable snowfall to the Cascade Mountains this weekend.
Meteorologist Doug McDonnell on Friday said the storm could bring 1 to 2 feet of snow throughout the Cascades Mountains with the heaviest snowfall likely in the Stevens Pass area.
He says drivers should expect snow on all the highway passes starting Friday night with snowfall gradually easing by Sunday. He says the snow level is expected to drop to about 2,500 feet.
The weekend forecast calls for isolated thunderstorms possibly bringing pea-sized hail, particularly along the coast and the Puget Sound region.
McDonnell says it’s not unusual to have this kind of snowfall in the Cascades in April but it has been an unusual winter.
