JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD — Months after an Army medical commander was suspended and removed from command at Joint Base Lewis-McCord, internal documents show that employees say they felt “borderline abused” in the “caustic” environment he created.
The News Tribune reported that the report into Brig. Gen John Cho following complaints about his leadership in September revealed that though Cho was respected by his colleagues, his abrasive leadership style cost him the position.
In the report Cho expressed surprise at how he was received by his staff.
Cho was not formally relieved of his command, but will not return to lead the Western Regional Medical Command, which is in charge of Army hospitals in 20 states. He was reassigned to the staff of the Office of the Army Surgeon General.
