Edmonds City Councilwoman Joan Bloom said recently that she doesn’t intend to run for a second four-year term.
“It has never been my intention to go beyond one term,” she said.
Retired Quest Communications executive Dave Teitzel already had announced that he would run for the position that Bloom holds.
Teitzel was an applicant when the council appointed Mike Nelson early this year to fill the position that former Councilman Strom Peterson gave up in January to start his term in the legislature.
Teitzel has registered with the State Public Disclosure Commission as a candidate for the position that Bloom holds. Nelson has registered with the PDC as a candidate for the last two years of the term that Peterson won in 2013. Adam Cornell, who also was a candidate for the vacancy, has registered with the PDC without naming a position.
Registration with the PDC allows candidates to raise and spend money for the August primary and November general elections. Candidates file for ballot position May 11-15. Any position with three or more candidates appears on the primary ballot, with the top two vote getters advancing to the general-election ballot. Positions with only one or two candidates appear only on the November ballot.
Also on 2015 Edmonds ballots will be full four-year terms for the positions that Council members Diane Buckshnis, Thomas Mesaros and Lora Petso now hold.
