SEATTLE — On the last day of testimony in the penalty phase of his Seattle trial, a man convicted of killing six members of a Carnation, Washington family in 2007 apologized to his victims.
KING-TV reports that Joseph McEnroe directly addressed the surviving members of his victims’ family, saying he hopes his words could give them some relief.
Jury deliberation is expected to start Wednesday after closing arguments. In this penalty phase of the trial the jury will decide whether McEnroe should be sentenced to death or life in prison without parole for the Christmas Eve 2007 murders. He was found guilty in March.
Prosecutors say McEnroe and his then-girlfriend, Michele Anderson, shot and killed six members of Anderson’s family on Christmas Eve 2007.
McEnroe says he hopes to counsel others in prison.
