Everett swung a deal early during Thursday’s bantam draft, sending Russian forward Ivan Nikolishin to Red Deer in exchange for a third-round pick (59th overall) in the current bantam draft and a conditional fourth rounder in 2017.
Nikolishin spent the past two seasons with the Tips, notching 34 goals and 87 assists in 144 games. This season he finished third on the team in scoring with 62 points (16 goals, 46 assists) in 72 games.
This trade is no surprise, as there were serious doubts about whether Nikolishin would return to Everett next season. This gives Nikolishin the chance to play in the Memorial Cup, which is being hosted by Red Deer next year.
